Features Aquatic Arena for dolphin shows

Date Completed 2001

Project Details

The Dolphinarium at the Boudewjin Seapark features 16 RPT R-Cast™ acrylic panels in the show aquarium. Behind these panels is nearly 800,000 gallons (3 million liters) of saltwater for the dolphin shows that take place in the arena. The aquatic arena is nearly 10 feet deep (3m) to aid in the dolphins’ performances. The acrylic panels total up to 131 feet long x 6 feet high (40m L x 1.8m H) and the acrylic is almost 2.5 inches thick (6cm).

The unique part of this attraction is that half of the water is contained at ground-level. When visitors to the show walk to their seats, the water level is nearly 5 feet above ground (1.5m). This allows them to view the dolphins’ performance above water and below water.
