Project Details

When the Fantasea Reef was installed in Harrah’s Casino in 1996, it immediately propelled the casino to the top of the “must see” list in Atlantic City.

Designed to embrace and reflect the marine theme – Atlantic City is, after all, by the ocean – the interior design featured six saltwater aquariums filled with various species of tropical reef life. The buffet area included 400 seats fully surrounded by an underwater seascape of coral, fish, water, special lighting effects, and animatronics. As times changed, however, Harrah’s needed to renovate in order to remain on the “must see” list.

As such, the Fantasea Reef was demolished in 2007 to make way for new gaming space, a hotel expansion, and a parking garage. All six RPT tanks, more than 100 exotic fish, and 100 moon jellyfish were donated to the Atlantic City Aquarium, less than a mile away from Harrah’s Casino.
