The centerpiece of Landry’s Restaurants Inc. Aquarium restaurant in the downtown entertainment redevelopment in Houston is the cylindrical aquarium that links the various floors of entertainment, dining, and meeting places together. A staircase winds around the 50 foot tall cylinder aquarium so that visitors can experience a variety of sea life.
All totaled, the various tanks boast 500,000 gallons (almost 1.9 million liters) of salt- and freshwater and 200 species of marine life, allowing visitors to experience the North American seas, the desert, Central American rainforests, a coral lagoon, a sunken temple, and a shipwreck, to name a few.
The Aquarium restaurant in Kemah shares a number of similarities to the Houston restaurant. All diners get a view of the 50,000 gallon (190,000 liter) cylindrical saltwater tank. More than 100 species of fish from the Caribbean, Hawaii, the South Pacific, and the Indian Ocean live in the tank.
