Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel Selects Reynolds Polymer Technology for Large-Scale Lobby Aquarium
World’s leading acrylic experts engineer and install panels for three-story cylindrical water feature
Grand Junction, Colo. (Dec. 10, 2019) – Reynolds Polymer Technology, Inc., the world’s leader in fully integrated, highly engineered acrylic solutions, announced today that it manufactured, supplied and installed a cylindrical aquarium for Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel’s nearly 50-foot aquarium. The large water feature is prominently displayed in the grand lobby as a central design element filled with nearly two thousand aquatic animals of varying species.
“It’s been a true pleasure to see our highly engineered acrylic come to life in the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel,“ said Mark Johnson, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing. “With each project Reynolds is selected for, we grow in our capabilities and are able to demonstrate our innovative nature. This water feature provides guests with an engaging sea life view right within the Ocean Park facility. From vision to concept to execution, our experienced team goes above and beyond and that couldn’t be more true with this undertaking.”
The salt-water filled cylindrical tank is comprised of 14 individual pieces of acrylic bonded together with seven vertical bonds and one horizontal bond in a monolithic structure. The cylinder measures 49 feet high with a width of 20 feet and thickness of 7.5 inches. The property sets itself apart from other local area hotels with its unique design and affinity for the environment through nature motifs and commitment to sustainability. The lobby aquarium that spans three hotel floors features nearly 2,000 fish of over 90 species and coincides with the fish-shaped lighting and water-like front desks, coordinating with the nearby Ocean Park aquatic theme.
“Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel is an impressive feat of design and architecture in its adoption of local elements such as the ocean-inspiration, as well as boasts a strong focus on environmentally friendly practices,” said Michael Wong, Sales Director Asia Pacific at Reynolds Polymer Technology. “Reynolds’ role in this project proves our ability to combine the latest technologies and techniques with extraordinary styles of design and attention to detail in manufacturing quality acrylic attractions. Working with such a powerful brand in hospitality, such as Marriott, is an honor and sharing in their vision for this masterful component provides guests with an unmatched experience and connection to nature while staying in this beautiful location.”
